Daniel & Ryan
Hi! We're Ryan and Daniel. We are a loving, committed couple and are so excited for the opportunity to grow our family. We are blessed with wonderful family and friends and we can't wait to share that love and support with a child. We are so grateful for you taking the time to learn more about us.
Adoption in Our Lives
After Ryan's birth, Ryan's mother was no longer able to have additional biological children. Their family was blessed to adopt Ryan's brother, Evan.
Ryan's family was always open about Evan's adoption and he had the opportunity to connect with his birth mother and biological siblings. We remain so grateful to Evan's birth mother for giving Ryan the gift of a younger brother.
Evan's adoption journey has been wonderful and positive filled with love and happiness. We've seen what a wonderful experience adoption can be to expand our family and are eager to greet all the love and adventures that come with our own adoption.
Our Lifestyle
When we're hanging out at home, you will often find us in the kitchen, either cooking dinner or baking a new treat. On weekends we like to hike the trails near our home with our puppy, or curl up on the couch with coffee and a crossword. We love the arts and enjoy seeing local theater and music in town.
We also love traveling and exploring the many towns and parks southern California has to offer. A couple times a year we make bigger trips to see the world (Daniel particularly loves planning these to make sure we get to learn and experience as much as possible).
Spending time with our friends and family is a big part of our lives, and we love to have people over for a good dinner and a board game, or to splash around in the pool.
As our child grows up, we look forward to sharing these activities and more as they discover new interests and passions.
Our Family Traditions
Every summer we make a tradition of going to the Hollywood Bowl for a picnic and show with friends and family. One event we try to make it to each year is The Sound of Music sing-a-long. Ryan and his brother Evan are not great singers (Evan still enthusiastically joins in) but Daniel and Evan's wife Katie have great voices. It has turned into a big group affair some years, joined by Ryan and Evan's and Katie's parents, costumes and all!
Daniel loves hosting friends and family, and hosting the annual 4th of July party has become a staple event. He loves decorating with red, white, and blue and hosting everyone in the Southern California sun for a fun day of games, grilling and pool time. Ryan bakes a dessert (usually a pavlova!) topped with strawberries and blueberries for those with a sweet tooth.

Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a four-bedroom house in a beautiful suburb of Los Angeles, lush with mature trees along the sidewalk lined streets.
We take a stroll around our neighborhood at least once a day with our dog, Melvin, and are always greeted by our neighbors with their own dogs or kids on bikes and scooters. We have several good friends within walking distance who have recently started or will soon be starting their own families. We're so excited to share this experience together and are so happy our kid will be able to grow up in a neighborhood full of kids to play with, an experience we both had growing up ourselves.
We have a grocery store and restaurants within a ten-minute walk from our home and love getting out and about, exploring the city on foot. Our local elementary school is a short walk from our house and we have plenty of hiking trails we regularly take advantage of. There is a large park a short drive from us for organized sports and a big complex that includes an Olympic-size swimming pool.
At our home, we also have a beautiful lawn, pool and hot tub that we enjoy year round in the wonderful Southern California weather.
Our Extended Families
We both come from very loving and supportive families. Ryan has a younger brother who was adopted at birth, and Daniel has an older sister who now has two young boys of her own. Ryan grew up in San Diego, where his parents still live, and we regularly take a short road trip to visit each other on weekends and holidays. Ryan's mom is a retired OB/GYN and can't wait to welcome a baby into our lives. We are so fortunate that Ryan's brother Evan and his wife, Katie, also settled in Los Angeles, a very short drive from our home. We spend a great deal of time together with a weekly tradition of cooking dinner, watching TV and movies, and letting our puppies run wild in the backyard.
Daniel's parents, sister and two nephews live in Ohio in the same neighborhood where Daniel grew up. We take regular trips to visit them for holidays where we love to play with the kids at the park and take them on trips to the museum. We keep up with Daniel's large extended family (his dad is one of eight!) at family events in Ohio and all over the East Coast for weddings and holidays. Family is very important to both of us and everyone is so excited to be able to meet our own little one!
From Us to You
Hi there, we're Daniel and Ryan. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us a little better. It's a big decision and we are so humbled and grateful that you are considering us for the privilege of raising your child.
We met and fell in love in 2015. On our second date, over burgers we discussed our hopes for a family of our own. With Ryan's brother, Evan, being adopted, even then we knew that adoption was the path we wanted to take. It's been a long and wonderful road since then, moving in together to our Los Angeles suburb in 2017, bringing our cuddly puppy, Melvin, into our lives, and getting married in 2020 (not even the pandemic could stop us). Through that time our love has grown deeper and stronger and we want nothing more than the chance to share that love with a child.
We are so lucky to be surrounded by loving friends and family who also cannot wait to welcome a child into their lives. We've made a tradition of Sunday night dinners with Evan and his wife, Katie, and with them looking to start a family of their own, we know your child will be surrounded by a warm and involved extended family. We are also close to our parents, who are so excited to bring a new grandchild into the family.
Our home is spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful backyard and pool to play in. We spend many summer evenings swimming and grilling out in our yard with friends. Our neighborhood is quiet and friendly and is close to the parks, schools, museums, beaches and hiking trails that make LA such a great place to live. When we go on walks with Melvin, we always see our neighbors out and about with their children and pets.
We have been blessed to have both found fulfilling professions that have allowed us to create a comfortable and secure life. Ryan is an oncologist, a role that requires empathy and compassion, which he brings to every aspect of his life. Daniel is an attorney for an animation studio, which reflects his joyful and fun-loving nature. Additionally, Daniel's work provides generous paternity, vacation and flexible schedules that will allow us to be present for our child.
We understand how important it is for you to know your child is happy and thriving in the life you helped make possible for them. To that end, we're committed to regularly sending letters and pictures to update you on their growth, interests and achievements. We're open to further contact, through emails, phone calls, or even in-person visits in the future, if you feel comfortable with it. We understand preferences can evolve over time, and are committed to building a relationship that honors your vital place in the child's story.
Thank you for taking the time to consider us for the privilege of being adoptive parents for your baby. Whatever your decision, we wish you both the best.
